No. The brewer uses a permanent 250-micron stainless mesh filter that replaces paper filters entirely. The mesh holds back coffee grounds while allowing oils and flavour through — no paper filter purchases ever needed. It is also dishwasher safe.

Can I use the same brewer for both coffee and tea?

Yes — this is specifically a 2-in-1 design. The reversible mesh filter works in one orientation for pour-over coffee (fine 250-micron mesh) and the other orientation for loose-leaf tea (larger mesh openings for full leaf expansion). The glazed interior prevents flavour crossover between brews.

What grind size should I use for pour-over coffee with this brewer?

A medium-coarse grind works best with the 250-micron mesh filter — similar to what you would use for a flat-bed drip filter. Too fine and drainage slows; too coarse and the water passes through without proper extraction. Most specialty coffee retailers in NZ can grind to order if needed.
